Fortunately, we are a registered member of the ATC (Association of Translation Companies), therefore we are entitled to provide certifications that are recognised by UK authorities. Our approved translations are accompanied by a signed and stamped declaration, confirming the faithfulness and accuracy of the translated document(s).

The characteristics of a certified translation may vary between countries. In short, official UK bodies, such as the Home Office, DVLA, Courts or even Universities, may often request a certified translation when presenting an official document. In the UK, when a translation is certified, it means that the final translation is accurate and truly represents the original source document. Such a certification can be issued only by approved translation agencies, such as us, EK Translations.

It is important to bear in mind that there are different types of “certification”:

• Standard Certified Translations – Officially signed by the approved translator or translation agency involved. This is accompanied by a headed letter outlining the full details of the translation and declaring that the completed translation is an accurate representation of the source document. In the UK, a standard certification is usually enough for full legal use.
• Notarised Translations – A notarised translation is officially signed by the translator or translation agency. The difference is that this signature must take place in front of a solicitor or a public notary who also provides a signature to authenticate the legal use of the translated document.
• Sworn Translations – A sworn translation requires a testimony to be made by the translator in front of a solicitor or public notary declaring the true representation of the original document. However, it is not a requirement in the UK despite being common law in countries such as France, Spain, Germany and Italy.
• Apostille – This is when the final translation is sent to the Foreign Commonwealth Office for validation.

1. Acquiring certified translations with us is a simple feat. All you have to do is send us a copy of the documents that require translation, and then we will contact you with a free non-obligatory quote. However, if your document is quite lengthy, then there is absolutely no need to send us a copy in its entirety; a sample will be more than enough!
2. Upon mutual agreement of the fee and deadline, we take the reigns and will process the translation. All you have to do is sit back until we deliver your translation by the agreed due date.
